Mathematically Challenged

I feel so juvenile working through high-school maths. This stuff is not as hard as it used to be - I remember dreading numbers and the sophistication they were presented with - but I still need awhile to get the hang of it; how pathetic! I have only a month to master this and I cant be wasting time trying to figure out permutations and the like.
Was it me or was it the system? The amazing thing is, I can do the more complicated and practical maths with the help of computers and calculators - but when it comes to the basics I am more than rusty. WHY? Did I use to sleep in class? No, I remember chit-chattin alot though!
Maths is unarguably the most important subject and if it were presented to me in a more fun and creative way, perhaps I would've cared to (or more likely systematically) remembered the formulas and their applications. Unfortunately, all we had was an enthusiastic but communication-illiterate "teacher". Perhaps if he were abit more easy on the eyes, that might have helped!
Actually, I believe it's not about how much the educator knows, but how much he/she if able to teach. I for one, would be a horrible teacher coz I'd rather save time doin than havin someone to learn how to do it - I vividly remember the time I broke the glass desktop out of frustration when a class of 10-yr olds did not understand how to give or ask for directions in English; I mean it's just left and right for god's sake!
Sigh, anyways I would know whom to blame if I do not get a high score on my GMAT!
